Atomic: A High-Speed Local Communication Architecture
نویسندگان
چکیده
ATOMIC1 is an inexpensive high-speed LAN built by USC/ISI. It is based upon Mosaic technology developed for fine-grain, message-passing, massively parallel computation. Each Mosaic processor is capable of routing variable length packets, while providing added value through simultaneous computing and buffering. ATOMIC adds a general routing capability to the native Mosaic wormhole routing through store-and-forward and path concatenation. ATOMIC aggregate bandwidth scales as the number of nodes increases, and it has a small interface cost. Each ATOMIC channel has a data carrying capacity of 500Mb/s. A prototype ATOMIC LAN has been constructed along with host interfaces and software that provides full TCP/IP compatibility. Using ATOMIC, 1,500 byte packets have been exchanged between hosts at an aggregate transfer rate of more than 1Gb/s. Other tests have demonstrated throughput of 5.25 million packets per second over a single Mosaic channel. The architecture is flexible both in topology and functionality. This paper describes the architecture and performance of ATOMIC.

This paper presents the design and implementation of a quality of service architecture for the Internet. The architecture is based on the emerging standards for resource reservation in the Internet, namely the RSVP protocol and the associated service speci cations de ned by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Our architecture represents a major functional enhancement to the traditional ...
متن کاملHigh Speed Delay-Locked Loop for Multiple Clock Phase Generation
In this paper, a high speed delay-locked loop (DLL) architecture ispresented which can be employed in high frequency applications. In order to design the new architecture, a new mixed structure is presented for phase detector (PD) and charge pump (CP) which canbe triggered by double edges of the input signals. In addition, the blind zone is removed due to the elimination of reset signal. Theref...

متن کاملCommunication Thread Cache: High-speed Communication Support for SMT
This report is a part of the fulfillment for EE653 class project. A novel approach to support high-speed communication for SMT architecture is proposed, so called communication thread cache. The cache will store the status of threads, which have been blocked due to the latency of the local or remote memory access and reactivate the sleeping threads as soon as data is available. This mechanism p...
متن کاملA novel vedic divider based crypto-hardware for nanocomputing paradigm: An extended perspective
Restoring and non-restoring divider has become widely applicability in the era of digital computing application due to its computation speed. In this paper, we have proposed the design of divider of different architecture for the computation of Vedic sutra based. The design of divider in the Vedic mode results in high computation throughput due to its replica architecture, where latency is mini...
